Blackberry 9790 & 9380, RIM Unwise Branding

Selling a new product always could be a turning point gambling, it could turn out good & could happen bad way especially coupled with very tight mobile tech market competition lately. As RIM gonna launch Their 2 (two) new product, Blackberry 9790 and 9380, We think RIM should think about branding actually & how it turns out to Us to be RIM unwise branding. Please correct Us if We are wrong but please also bear with Us until We present this article to the end & feels free to drop any comments, critics or inputs.
 
As one of proud Blackberry User also, as far as We knew, group of Blackberry smartphones should be on Bold group – Storm group – Curve group – Pearl group – Style group & now there is new group like Torch group & maybe Bold Touch group with appearance of Blackberry 9900 & 9930. Some particular group should be counted to be Blackberry great success are Bold group & Curve group. Name it from legendary Blackberry Bold 9000 ; Blackberry 8300 – 8310 – 8320 and now Blackberry 8520 aka Gemini ; Blackberry Javelin 8900 and turns out to be Blackberry Onyx 9700 – Onyx2 9780. We could see together if there is any brand overlap, right in this RIM unwise branding? And there's more.

Some point We like to discuss first are, this Blackberry 9790 act similar with Blackberry 9900/9930 only with lower spec in overall from pixel resolution, internet browser capability, there's no secondary camera, video recording only in class of VGA instead of 720p HD Video & lastly brain processor only use 1GHZ instead of 1,2GHz. With this, Our mindset would think now there's 2 (two) group of Blackberry Bold Touch Type, first on 9900/9930 & second in 9790. There's nothing wrong to deliver this type of 9790 actually in spite of after RIM deliver 9900/9930 that We count great achievement, RIM should deliver next Blackberry smartphones with better spec except RIM Blackberry delivers 9790 first then Blackberry 9900/9930. For Us, this strategy would count as RIM unwise branding when delivering new product especially if market guess that RIM gonna deliver new weapon to strike back.

If in Blackberry 9790 case, We seem a little bit confuse, but in Blackberry 9380 case, Our skeptical analysis is conditionally happen worse. There's no QWERTY only touchscreen menu as We guess what of this? Kind of Blackberry Storm or new brand of Blackberry Torch (as We saw in Blackberry Torch 9850/9860) and We surprise that this is new kind of Blackberry Curve new edition. This Blackberry 9380 shows RIM unwise branding completely as overlap type between Storm group & Torch group. In Our mindset, Blackberry Curve would be great if set on price market with QWERTY equipped physical keyboards. We really hope this Blackberry 9380 wouldn't have same fate with former Blackberry Storm which prove not really a successful Blackberry product in marketplace. Stake is really high when comparing with Apple iPhone & Google Android smartphones out there.
 
If that RIM unwise branding case would stop but don't, there is more. We could see Blackberry 9380 only brings 806MHz processor which We think a little bit skeptic again, is that enough to equip Blackberry OS 7 on high performance? RIM already shows it in Blackberry Torch 9850/9860 that They carry at least 1GHz or faster Blackberry processor to drive Blackberry OS 7 and that why Our question arises. Second thing, why RIM only mention Blackberry battery for this 9790 & 9380 only with code JM-1 and not real capacity like 1200/1300/1500 mAh as other smartphone vendor does it? Maybe We wrong to discuss that & please feels free to correct Us, but seems the battery is going for supposing amount of 1230 mAh same as other Blackberry which We should suggest more battery capacity actually. Nonetheless We aren't on RIM side maybe, and We hope RIM actually knew what They're doing.
 
We still have good faith in RIM Blackberry as would carry on balancing position in smartphones dominance marketplace toward Apple iPhone, Google Android & Microsoft Windows Phone. But please, no more any RIM unwise branding action, especially if RIM wanna regain Their position back in one of top leader role in business smartphones market. We really hope that RIM Blackberry gonna have successful market sales in launching Blackberry 9790 & 9380. Warm regards!
